sketchbook
here are the four fold outs and the cover of my fear sketchbook.
the fear i chose to focus on was moths, and funny enough other fears emerged as themes for the four pieces (death, loss, loneliness, commitment and intimacy to name a few)
the pieces are on crappy newsprint, useful in that it folds up pretty, and feels kind of mothy. i used tracing paper, xerox copies, some transferring, watercolor pencils, graphite, and rachel’s typewriter. the typed text is taken from books on moths and phobias, the handwritten stuff, personal reflections on moths.
i picked that real life dead moth from nicholas’ windshield. ALL BY MY SELF. and bagged it. and then sewed it to the cover. all with out having to walk away and take a deep breath too often.
PROUD. maybe that whole exposure cure theory thing really might work.
hmm.
