i can die a little bit more now
because i finally made a Spadercake!
james spader
made edible
then put in a show. our entry show!
it was on display till the end of the night
at nights end, the time to eat had come. i gave a speech and told whoever was still standing around all about the history of the Spadercake and how it started off as an idea for the final project of a class exploring the concept of happiness (IDC sophomore year fall semester whoopwhoop!). i decided back then to not fail out of school, and to save the spader cake for something really truely special. it became a life goal, one of the very few i have. and on tuesday i did it!
with my spartanburg loved ones all around (shamu!) i made the first cut, dedicated to christina.
sticking that knife into his head was a lot harder than i thought it would be, though i supose that’s to be expected. he was on his way to destruction, on the way to the end, and i guess that’s always the deal with seeing some huge aspiration all the way through. right?
i got weepy thinking a lot about friends who fostered this idea for the past five years, and where they were right then, and the ways they were and were not with me still. i wished they could be there to eat, i wished i could feed them some Spader. but all i could do was keep cutting, bark out their names into the gallery, and hope that some how they could hear me. so the proceeding cuts were for them, a token of my love for them.
with him all sliced up the project was thru.
so we ate him.

and let me tell you he tasted G O O D!
conquering your dreams tastes pretty delish.
thankyouthankyou to Y’ALL who stuck around for a slice of nostalgia, sentiment, and Spadercake.
thankyouthankyou to Alix, Stephen, Arielle, Rachel, and Nicholas who were super supportive of this entire ridiculous production (the drive -by encouragement was crucial the day of, so thank you guys for realz)
lesson learned: Spadercake nourishes the soul, as well as the sweet tooth. and then we poop him out.
ps: for my next trick i’ll be hiking the appalachian trail… who wants to come with?

Please don’t take this in a sleazy way, but due to your making of this cake, I think I might love you. Even though we don’t even know each other.
Seriously though, bless you for doing this!!!
